An electrical installation firm that has moved away from the cloud
For years, we ran industry-specific software in the IP Cloud because there was no other practical way to deploy traditional desktop software. Then the firm switched to Abacus, and that changed our entire strategy.
Abacus operates on the client-server principle. The server and database therefore remained in our data centre, but we set up access so that the service is also accessible from outside. We distribute the client centrally to laptops and tablets, along with the configuration, so that work is carried out locally.
At the same time, all documents have moved to the cloud, and collaboration takes place via Teams and Office on the device.
Today, only the payroll programme remains in the IP Cloud, with one user accessing it once a month. We have therefore largely phased our own product out of this operation, as it was no longer the right fit for it.
